Care for others begins with care for me

For anyone who spends their days caring for others, it's important to take some time to care for yourself and allow yourself to integrate and feel part of your community.

Our workshops offer carers a chance to focus on their own needs and look at how they can bring balance into their lives as so often they lack the space to do this.

Around 5.2 million people provide informal care in England and Wales. That's 1 in 10 of the population.

Maintaining our health is not just a question of treating illness or disease: It is about having support, which will help maintain our physical and emotional well-being. Caring can increase our risk of becoming depressed or feeling isolated. It can have its rewards but also come with many difficulties. There is a fine line between contributing in the home and taking on full responsibility for everything.

Caring can be particularly hard for young carers who lose so much of their freedom and childhood when responsibility falls on them and in our workshops we invite carers, for one day, to remember that they, as much as anyone else deserve care and respect.
